This is a provisional plan. 12 weeks × 5 days × 45–60 min ≈ 45–60 hours of guided study. Many learners need more time for A2, especially for listening and speaking. After the placement test and each checkpoint, adjust the pace. Progress depends on regular practice; no plan can guarantee a level.

How a week works (standard)
| Day | Content | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Review · new words A · read grammar + exercise G1 | 50 min |
| Day 2 | Review · new words B · exercises G2–G3 · reading | 55 min |
| Day 3 | Review · listening · pronunciation · speaking: questions | 50 min |
| Day 4 | Review · role-play · own speaking task · writing | 55 min |
| Day 5 | Vocabulary recall · review quiz · correct · error log · progress | 45 min |
Review = 10 minutes of flashcards using the review schedule in Vocabulary (1, 3, 7, 14, 30 days).
Study method (short)
1. Recall first, then check. Cover the answer and say/write it yourself first (retrieval practice). 2. Spread out your reviews. Words come back after 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days. 3. Mix. The Friday quiz always includes older weeks too. 4. From example to free use. Read the example → gap exercise → your own sentence → free speaking/writing. 5. Real situations. Every week has an everyday role-play. 6. Collect mistakes. Every mistake is counted in Progress and practised later.
Tired days: short day (15 min)
Every week has a short day at the bottom. In general:
- 5 min flashcards (only due cards)
- 5 min listening: play this week's dialogue once
- 5 min say or write 3 sentences: Heute habe ich … Morgen möchte ich … Ich finde Deutsch …
A short day counts. Two short days a week are fine.
Catching up
Missed one or more days? Don't try to catch up on everything. 1. Always first: due flashcards (max. 15 min). 2. Then only: this week's grammar + listening + writing. Reading and the quiz can wait. 3. Missed a whole week → repeat that week, don't skip it. The plan becomes a week longer. 4. Never do two weeks in one week.
Adjustment rule
- After the placement test and each checkpoint: one area below 60 % → one extra day for that area next week (material from the old week, new sentences).
- Two or more areas below 60 % → do the old week (or the weakest of the last 4) again.
- Everything above 80 % → short-day pace for grammar is fine; spend more time on speaking and listening.
- Details: Progress and the checkpoints.
Austria (AT)
The material is standard German (Germany). Where Austrians say something different it is marked AT, e.g. der Januar – AT: der Jänner. List: Vocabulary, section "Austrian variants".
